Principal - Praetorian Web Design

I set up Praetorian Web Design in 2002 with a view to taking what I enjoyed most from previous jobs - web design - and going it alone. Since that time, I have worked with a wide variety of clients all wanting very different websites. I take pride in designing good looking, quick loading websites that work well across different web browsers and platforms - including smart phones.

I have over 14 years experience in designing websites for small to medium sized businesses, as well as for large organisations including the NHS, Local Government and schools.

My work philosophy is all to do with the client and when I create something it has to be about you and what you want. You are the integral part of the design process and your opinions and requirements are paramount. Good design includes problem solving - it's not just decoration. My job is to facilitate your wants and guide your needs in a manner that is both effective and practical - and that usually means simple and concise. Most of all I believe that webdesign should be simple and effective, although you might be amazed at the amount of work that goes into 'simple'.

Email me with what you may have in mind at praetorianweb@gmail.com and we'll see if I can help.

So why call the company 'Praetorian'? I was born and raised in Bath and the Roman connection has always been there. The praetorians (cohors praetoria) were the imperial guard that protected Rome and the emperor. They were a crack unit whose members wore a special uniform and received double pay.

On a less work-related level, I love mountain biking, kayaking and practise Tai Chi and Qigong. I now live on the Dorset coast with my wife and 2 daughters and enjoy walking along the stunning coastline we have here and also camping - anything that gets us outdoors.
